Cessation of one parent family tax credit

My husband and got married and moved in with each other in Feb of this year. He was claiming one parent family tax credit as he has two children from a previous relationship. He only got around to ceasing his tax credit in June on the ros service informing the revenue that we had got married and we now living with each other since Feb of this year. There was no change in his tax last month but when he opened his pay slip this morning, he was taxed approx €1900 for the month.

He has tried to contact the revenue but he is on hold for a long time so he will try again later today.

Would he still have been entitled to the credit for Jan and Feb of this year? I know they would have backdated the credit but this seems a little excessive to recoup all the back dated tax in one month.

I presume so.
I know they would have backdated the credit but this seems a little excessive to recoup all the back dated tax in one month.
Why did he not tell them to recoup any excess claim of the credit by adjusting his tax credits when he informed them in June that he ceased to qualify for the credit in March?

I don't know why he didn't, I suppose he'll find out more when he rings them.

He is entitled to OPFA for all of 2008, Revenue base it on your circumstances at 1/1 of the year so as long as you weren't married or co-habitating at the time credit is due. Go back online and reinstate credit yourself. You husband appears to be the one that has removed the credit. When credit is reinstated employer will refund tax overdeducted.

Thanks advisor, he just got through to them who told him the same thing, it will be reinstated for the remainder of this year, they will refund the tax in next month's wages and it will be taken off for next year.
