Certified copy

I'm opening an online bank account which requires a certified copy of my driver's license or passport. The bank says that a member of the Garda can do this but when I asked them the Garda insisted that they could not provide a certified copy of the passport. Is there another way of getting a certified copy without going to a solicitor?
 
Any bank branch can help (even if it's the competition).

Otherwise any commissioner of oath or any court will be happy to help for a fee.
 
I just brought a photocopy and the original along to the post office & they stamped it...
 
Tried the post office first but they wouldn't do it. Next went to Ulster Bank and they did the job without any problems.
