Hello, can I ask if anyone has any experience with ceramic tiles on floor of bathroom. I am in process of buying tiles for house and on a budget. I was thinking of ceramic for bathroom floor and porcelain elsewhere in house (i.e. hallway, kitchen, utility) but assistant in tile shop said that with ceramic the colour isn't all the way through, therefore, with wear and tear, it's a clay colour that appears whereas with porcelain tiles, the colour is all the way through the tile. So, I was thinking of scraping the ceramic idea altogether and go for budget porcelain instead and go for the wall to floor tiling look in bathroom. Any advice? Plus, any advice on whether to tile outside of bath in same tile or just put wooden panel or just plain gloss panel on bath instead. I am using underfloor heating in bathroom. Thank you :)

my husband tiled the side of or bath. what he did was tile on some ply wood and screwed it onto the side of the bath incase we ever needed to take it off. he put some white plastic caps over the screws. it looks fab and works great. as for the tiles, i have just bought creamic for my kitchen and hall. i have them in my bathroom about 7 years now and they are great. i have had no problem. i have toyed with the idea of porcelain but was turned off by a friend who said that they are impossible to keep as ever spot or dust/dirt/water can be seen on them and that they are very dangerous as they are very slippy when wet. the guy in the tile place told me that too. said he has them in his hall and his wife nearly broke her back when she came out of the shower and went downstairs to answer the phone while still wet. very honest of him i know :) my bathroom tiles dont have the colout all the way through them and it has never been an issue. i pour pure bleach over them and leave it for 30 minutes every week to clean them and the colour has never changed (they are blue by the way). hope this helps.
