CE Scheme - No funding for training courses

I started a CE scheme in Oct last year and all is going well. I really like the position and the cdp centre itself. I am currently completing a desktop publishing evening course that was funded by the CE scheme and by FAS. When I started the course I thought that I had €500 to spend on training courses over the year of the scheme. My first course cost €250 so I thought I should have funds left to do at least one more course, but now my co-ordinator on the scheme tells me that there is no funds left to do any courses and I would have to apply to social welfare for funding. I understand that there is major cut back in all sectors and FAS etc is the same but does it not defeat the point of the CE schemes if they take away all the funding for re-training and courses. If anyone can shed some light on this I would be very thankful.

I too am on CE - started in Nov, and was told I had a training grant of 500. In Jan, I was called in to say that the training budget had been removed, so I could not avail of the extra training. A co worker, who is due to finish next month on ce had been waiting all year for a particular course, which is on next week and they kept their training budget specifically for this and now this has also been refused. There is simply no funds - good luck in applying to welfare!
