CE mark on equipment. What does it mean if there in no notified body number?

This question relates to the "CE mark" on equipment/toys/clothing etc.

What does it mean if there in no notified body NB number beside the CE mark?

For example, I have a Sony laptop with no "CE mark" NB number but I also have a Toshiba with NB number 0088 indicating that LLoyds are the NB.

There are many different categories of product and different rules and sets of safety tests for each category.
The labelling rules are also different in different circumstances.

I have been involved at work is getting CE for equipment that we design and sell.
We dont have a requirement, for our category of industrial product, to have the NB marked on the label. I dont know all the requirements for laptops but the directives on electrical safety and EMC do not specify that you need to put the NB on the label.

There is not always a requirement for the notified body to be on the label.
I cant remember all the requirements for
