Just something that came up at work yesterday. When you bring your MBNA credit card to the post offfice to make a payment, do the Post Office actually see the balance on your credit card? Or do they just get the number etc and make the payment?

Thanks

IME they take the bill and scan the bar code on the bottom so technically they could see the balance but they never look except if you ask them to take the minimum payment, to ascertain how much that is. If you say take 50 quid they don't bother looking. However, it is possible to just use the actual card rather than the bill and they have no access to your figures in that case.

Thanks for that. The payee reckoned by just bringing the card (no paper bill or giro's etc) that the post office staff would have no access to balances etc and would take the cash and simply make the payment onto the card without seeing any balance info etc. Thanks again.
