When I push 'on' button camera beeps as if to turn on and then immediately beeps again and turns itself off. When I push 'on' button and menu button at same time camera screen comes on displays meesage 'ver 1.00' and then after a few seconds turns itself off.

Can anyone help?
 
Might be obvious but I assume the battery is charged? Can you switch on the camera while connected to external power source? e.g. through usb to a PC?
 
Battery is charged, well at least appears to be charged. So I'll check by powering it through PC. I'll get back to you! Thanks.
