Cashing a cheque

Hi



i was owed about 10000euro by this developer been chasing him for months for payment and got a cheque from him made out to "conway builders"(which is my surname) but now the bank is saying ill have to get it crossed and signed or a new cheque, as my own account has only my own name on it (and doesnt say "builders")and the developer is away to the US for god knows how long.
Any suggestions?

The cheque is not crossed, so you can endorse it to afriend, who can then lodge it to their account and give you the cash, once its cleared

Why not register the trading name Conway Builders on Monday in the CRO? Give the bank a copy of the application form. Deal with the manager and not with a bank clerk.

I think that the manager would understand the necessity of getting this cheque cashed.
