Cashing a cheque without an US bank account

Hi there,

I am a Spanish freelancer and I will be travelling to the US in a week. An american client of mine just sent me a cheque, and I'd like to cash it direcly in the US, so that I have some extra cash and avoid the conversion to Euros, etc. Is it possible for me to go to branch of any US bank and cash the cheque (it's been issued at my name and I will of course provide proper ID)? Thanks!

If you difficulty finding a bank to cash it, there are cheque cashing businesses in the US. I'm sure Google will throw up some answers. If it's a cheque issued by a non-US based bank, you may have difficulty.

You could try calling a branch of the bank in question and asking them.
