Hi there,
Me and the fella are going to the Motorcycle Gran Prix in october in Estoril and have a few questions for anyone who has been to either Cascais or Estoril. I have looked at both Estoril and Cascais resort and think cascais sounds nicer.
Does anyone know if its easy to get to the track from Cascais, or would it be easier if we stayed in Estoril?
Any recomendations on accomodation?
Any experience of October Weather on the Estoril coast?
Know its early, but I believe the week of the Grand Prix books up fast.
Thanks,
Geri.

Hi Geri,

I would definitely choose Cascais. It's a very pretty town with a few nice restaurants. We went to Estoril to see the casino and it was a disappointing town. From what we saw it was built on the side of a road. It's kind of ugly to be honest.

If you do go to Cascais, there is a lovely 'lounge' type bar that over looks the bay where you can while away a few hours. There is also a 5 star hotel that over looks the bay - pricey to stay in I'd say but we had a very romantic meal there and it was good value.

Enjoy.

Estoril and Cascais are literally joined at the hip. Sort of like Grafton Street and O'Connell street. Cascais is lovely, great restaurants, pubs, marina, park. It even has a large supermarket if you want to go a bit cheaper.
We stayed at the Hotel Equador that has a small kitchenette in the room. It is situated above Cascais, about 20 minute walk from town. The hotel however has a bus service to/from the town centre hourly. I don't have their website address but I see that [broken link removed] are featuring it. Don't know about the GP but it has a train station easy enough to get to whether you stay in Estoril or Cascais. Cascais has more of a village feel to it.

Thanks Ludwig and Grizzly,
You've made my mind up,
will try to stay in cascais,
Geri
