Carrying three young children

Next year we hope to be in the happy position of carrying around three children under the age of 6 in a car, which will involve a booster and two child seats.

Does anyone have a recommendation on which of the following would be most suitable:

1. 7-seat MPV.
2. 6-seat MPV (like Honda FR-V).
3. Avensis or similar

Thanks,

Pashka

I cant tell you about the other two cars but my father has an avensis which is a great car. It is spacious and I think three seats would fit in the back seat. It also has a good sized boot. He has had it a few years now and has never had any trouble with it.

Thanks wavelength.

I'm particularly interested in the practicalities of carrying three child seats in the back of a car of the size of an Avensis/Mondeo.

Hi, same boat as yourself, three under 4 years old, the new shape Scenic can fit them in

Hi Slave1,

Soon to be in the same boat as 3rd is on the way and am wondering if this is the 5 or 7 seater Scenic that fits them in??

Thx :)

Either.

Hi,

The Passat is roomy in the back and can take 3 seats. it's always going to be tight with 3 seats, but doable.

The 7-seater Scenic is versatile for booster, baby seat combinations. You should consider future proofing your transport need against an expanding family buy taking a hard look at small 7-seater MPVs, even if you never use the rear 2 seats you have a huge family sized boot.

Ford's new S-Max might be one to consider.

The Kia Karens is also due soon!

My wife likes the look of the S-Max. We're probably leaning towards the Corolla Verso, though.

If your eldest has started school don't forget to factor in the schoolfriends and the the schoolfriend's bags which will inevitably become part of your cargo. I have used seven seaters all the time mine were in school and they really are the only way to go if you have three or more children. The Ford Galaxy is a comfortable, spacious and safe car, I'm on my second.

Check out galaxy / sharan or alhambra. excellent vehicles, have driven galaxy in work, owned a sharan and now have a new alhambra, they are the same vehicle with different badges but in the current alhambra as an extra you can get integrated child seats i.e. the base of the seat folds into a booster and the back of the seat opens up to reveal child restraints which means better safety and reverts immediately back to adult seat if required.

My sister runs around 3 kids 6 3 and 2 in a rover 200.

Although a mate bought a 7 seat honda stream for the first.

Transit bus might be the best option.
