I just rented one myself and it worked a treat. Just finished in fact and very pleased with the result.
 
Rented one myself too at 40e a day, but the filth that came out has got me thinking about pulling up all carpets and sanding the floorboards.
 
Can you please tell me where you rented them from? I was just going to use my mother's Vax but she said it wasn't great.

where did you rent the carpet cleaner and what type of machine and how much?
 
Magna Dry are based in Galway. I personally haven't used them as no carpet in the house but they did a neighbours house and they were very happy with them.
