I never had to fill out a carers tax relief form. When someone is applying for a carers tax relief as in for employing a carer - do they need the other person's PPS number?
A neighbour of mine has a disabled child. She calls on me at times to do some minding. It might be for a night here or there. She also has another lady that comes to help her and the other lady carries out most of the extras for weekends. So the neighbour would have some sort of a cost for taking on extra care.
I wasn't aware of the situation. I always thought it was a casual thing. For me anyways. It was always like a babysitting gig for me. I was always paid a cash like 40 or 50 euro but it's once a month type of thing.
I don't know how much the other lady gets but she usually does about 3 weekends.
The neighbour was asking me for my PPS number and it clicked with me that maybe she's using my PPS number to claim a tax credit for employing a carer but I am not employed by her and it's the other lady that would be getting the majority of cash in hand. I never even considered it cash in hand. I always thought I was stepping in to help and to be honest I never really expected a pay from her.
I don't know if this is a whole entire can of worms for me now.
