Carers allowance

Hi there,

Ive been looking at the carers allowance page in order to acertain whether a friend can qualify and if so for how much of a payment and Im bamboozled!

Can anyone tell me how to calculate what she will qualify if she applies based on having 60k savings. She cannot claim carers benefit as she has done so in the past.

60k in savings will reduce her carer's allowance by E110.00 per week.
Any income or other savings she has (or her spouse/partner) has will further reduce her carer's allowance payment

Thanks,

When you say 110e per week is that what the payment would be or is it the payment less 110e?

Can this be reviewed as circumstances change? and if so how. They need to buy a new car to replace the one they have now that is on its last leg - but still going. . .

The 60k savings would be calculated by SP as income/means of E110.00. As the first 7.60 of means is disregarded, her means is assessed as 110 - 7.60 = 102.40.
Her payment would be 101.50 (204 - 102.40)

Yes she can have her payment reviewed as savings dwindle but it would be important to have proof/receipts for any major expenditure
