I'm considering entering the world of sales as a recruitment consultant. I'm in my mid 20s, graduated 4 years ago and have been working in a completely unrelated field. I know its a cut throat competitive industry, im under no illusion that its a walk in the park, but im just wondering if anyone has any advice or thoughts on it. would be greatly appreciated. I'd be entering as a 'trainee recruitment consultant' where you go through a lot of training,,,!

Hi

It may be different now but as far as I remember, the recruitment industry is unregulated. I would advise going for a well established agency which maybe has some quality certifications or awards etc under its belt. In short I would put a lot of thought into who you end up working for. The training bit sounds good.

Thanks for that... This company I'm looking into is award winning so I think that says alot, altho, there is another company I have not heard of but apparantly with them you would be an 'apprentice' for 2 years, and they'd let you go to 4 areas. then after 2 years you can move on and up. i think that sounds really great. so either one i'd be happy with. the money is low in the latter, but after 2 years its fantastic... even if I dont like it, I'l have had good training and it will offer alot of prospects for other recruitment consultant agencies.

Do you have a professional or technical background that could be used to recruit within that area? For example an engineer recruiting engineers or an accountant recruiting accountants.
