Good evening,
Can anyone advise that if a teacher is on career break - commenced in September last but subbed until January and then left Ireland , are they entitled to apply for a tax refund? If so, would that be Claim Tax Refund on Revenue ?
Many thanks .

If their monthly income during Sep-Dec was lower than their previous teachers wage, then they would have been getting tax back / paying less tax, through their normal payroll.

If the teacher is unsure, they will find out if they do a normal Form 12 tax return for 2023.

If they worked during Jan 2024, and then left Ireland, they may have overpaid income tax for 2024.

They can wait until 2025, and submit the normal Form 12 for 2024, or else submit a P50 now:

They should be able to get back any tax paid in January
