Car warranty - voided by not servicing with main dealer?

Probably a silly question but just wanted to check, have I voided my new car warranty by getting it serviced with someone else.
It's a Ford C-Max and the electrics in the driver's wing mirror have gone, so not anything that would be impacted by someone else changing the oil, but I presume Ford will use that as a get-out will they ?
I called the garage and they said there it 'should ' be covered but I don't want to waste time if it's not (not easy for me to get to the ford garage)
If it's not covered under warranty, who could fix something like this for me? Would a mechanic do it or do I need an auto-electrician ?
Thanks in advance AAM!

Hippy,
I might be wrong. Years ago in order to maintain warranty you had to go to main dealer of make. My understanding is now that once your vehicle is serviced by registered garage and fitted with proper ford parts your warranty would remain in place.
Besides that I would just be booking my car into ford Dealer to fix mirror and not be getting into anything about servicing etc.I dont think a garage will be asking to many questions. You just tell them it was serviced in registered garage and dont get into discussion. Broken mirror is no way related to servicing of vehicle. Good luck.

That is my understanding as well, though similar to below, Ford could also request a detailed invoice listing parts and oil’s etc, but can’t see that being relevant in this case. I too would be booking the C- Max in for repair under warranty.

Here’s what Mazda have to say on the subject;

2. Where can I get my Mazda serviced?
We recommend that you have your Mazda serviced at a Mazda dealer as all staff have had the necessary training, use the Mazda specialist tools and have experience in looking after the full range of Mazda vehicles. If you decide to have your vehicle serviced outside of our network, it is important to ensure that any parts fitted are either Genuine Mazda parts or parts of equivalent quality to meet warranty requirements. It is also necessary to obtain a detailed service invoice listing the parts and oils used in the service, as this information may be required should you need to make a warranty claim.

6. Do customers have to get their cars serviced at Mazda Dealers?
It is not obligatory for Mazda owners to have their vehicles serviced by a Mazda dealer, however it is strongly recommended …………………….

Personally I would always go to the approved garage while the car is in warranty anyway.

Not true...

EU legislation allows for all car warranties to be valid once cars are serviced according to manufacturers guidelines using genuine car parts or spurious parts that conform to part specifications. Particular care must be taken for example with engine oil e.g. Mazda diesels which use a low ash oil called Dexelia. There are other manufacturers whose oils meet these requirements. Keep receipts and records.

Car dealerships will try to scare car owners in to believing that warranties might not be honoured if cars are not serviced with them. It's simply not true. Ask for it in writing and I'm sure you'll see a u turn.

The EU has tried to make car servicing competitive. Just make sure your independent garage is up to working on your car and has all the necessary diagnostic equipment for reading and resetting the ECU on your car or you might just regret not going to the main dealer.
