I was involved in a car accident on 28/04/2008. It is only now that the insurance company of the other party has accepted liability. They have offered a valuation for the car of €6,500. I think it is low. They are basing their valuation on what they estimate the value of the car to be at the time of the accident. I checked the valuation of the car on the revenue website and it gave a value of €5,100. Obviously, that is Todays value, so would in be unreasonable to add on €2000 to get to last years value, especially considering the collapse in car values in the meantime?

for the record it was Renault Megane hatch 3 door 1.9DCi 2003 with 70,000 miles. I bought it in the UK when I lived there, only 1.5dci was available for sale in Ireland.
