Car Stereo killing battery

Just installed a Lidl car stereo in a 2000 Ford Focus 1.6 petrol estate this morning, and it killed the battery. I replaced the 1.5 height ford radio with the standard sized Lidl one, and used the various adapters to convert the ford connections to the standard connections. The radio/cd all worked fine, but when I came to start the car this evening, the battery was almost flat. Any ideas what might be wrong?

The radion will not work with the ignition off by the way. The ford radio would work for an hour & then switch off.

Happened me few months ago but not with same brand. The first time I noticed it was when I went on hols for week, came back to find battery was dead. Eventually it killed my battery overnight. Basically I was told it was wired incorrectly and was linked to my inside light meaning that it was always running and therefore killing the battery.

My daughter has the same problem with her car; she has to take out the radio when the car is left overnight.

Any ideas on how I can check the wiring?
