Car stereo fitting in A4

I want to install a new stereo in my Audi A4 ('99) and have read on some U.S. websites that an ISO adapter is required to do this. Can anybody help me on this?

might need an ISO adaptor but nearly sure you need a facia plate too

none of the above are expensive at all
