car rental in italy

does anyone know of any good car rental companies in italy? they seem quite expensive when i searched around. looking for a car for about 4-5 days in august. any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I've used nova car rental (not specifically for Italy) and used Avis last year for Italy, they had a good discount at the time (i.e booked early and was non peak).

only advise is shop around, you'll probably be paying 7 day rates anyhow.

have been looking myself too...'holidayautos' seem to have better prices than hertz/avis etc.
I've never used holidayautos...just looking at price.

I've used both http://www.ebookers.ie and http://www.arguscarhire.com. Prices are usually competitive and they normally deal with the most reputable car rental companies.

Yup used argus hire before based on recommendations on here and found them very good (and competitive) to deal with.
