Car rental from Geneva airport

We're flying into Geneva later this year and will be hiring a car. Most car rental websites ask if we want the French or Swiss side for pickup - does this matter in any way? We're staying in France so I pick the French side but just wondering what the difference is and more importantly what does it mean for those websites that don't make any distinction!

the difference is 2 airports in the same location. If you are travelling in France you should take the French option. I booked my husband the Swiss side on his recent trip to France and he was not impressed.
