Car radiator blown after engine rebuild garage says its a coincidence?

Had my car fully serviced garage said lots of extras needed doing total cost was 400. 3 weeks later engine warning light cane on garage did a full engine rebuild total price 1700. Now just 3 weeks later car cut out wouldn't start and garage say the radiator has overheated and needs relaxing 300 euro. Seems to me like if it was fine at the service (don't know if they check it) and car had a full inspection before engine rebuild was done (values were revealed new head gasket and various other jobs) that it's a bit too much of a coincidence for this to happen so soon. Have been using car since this work was done but only up and down to work (less than 10k) at a time. Any opinions?

Do you trust your garage?
I use a very trustworthy mechanic now but used a cowboy at one stage.
That said your car could be at an age where stuff goes wrong.

I don't know if I trust them. I know very little about cars so find it difficult to know if what they tell me is correct. Just seems suspicious to me

I can't understand your post. If this is what the garage said to you then they sound like cowboys, but I suspect you misunderstood them.
