How long have parts to be available for cars?.I have a six year old car that needs a certain part.this has been confirmed by main dealer. In order for them to repair the car, they must also replace other bits ,to enable the comparable parts to work.So in other words,I am expected to pay to replace parts which are not defective to allow them to repair the car. What is the legal position on this if anyone knows? The cost of the non defective parts is approx €400.Total costs approx €1700.Thanks for any help.

Can you list the part required and also the part that the main dealer say must also be replaced?

the dealer has said that the ecu part of the electric power steering pump is faulty.he said the whole steering rack and a separate wiring loom will also have to be changed to allow a replacement pump to be fitted.
