Car Import Road Tax?

I am hoping to import a 2005 car from NI it has 143co2 emmissions I understand I pay €155 road tax ( Category C ) for the year. I am hearing differnt opinions some dealers are saying that this reduced rate is only for new cars. Can amyone clarify? Thanks

Cuppa,

In your case, you will pay VRT based on the emissions, and you will pay Road Tax based on the engine size (cc).

So I wont save, is the road tax only baed on the emmissions if I import a new car?

A 2008 car will qualify.
