Hi All
Anyone know of reasonable car hire in Holland, usual ones very expensive.Also things to do in and around Eindhoven for kids.First time in this area.

Try Sixti. At €10 per day, they are pretty unbeatable. They do run a very Ryanair model of car rental though; extras cost extra.

Edit: Just realized they might only do the Smart roadster in the Netherlands. That only has two seats and so probably is not very useful for someone traveling with kids :). I used them in Germany before and they had a choice of two car models, Smart and a larger one.
 
Note this is Sixti I was talking about - a brand run by Sixt but with its own website and pool of cars. Sixt proper will cost you a lot more than €10/day.
