3rd time lucky with this mail

Im in the process of buying a car and this morning I arranged for an AA mechanic to inspect the car (cost 210 Euro). The verbal report indicated mostly minor problems and mentioned that the front tyres were slightly worn on the outer edges indicating a steering/tracking problem. All in all the report highlighted that the car needs about 350 Euro worth of timely maintenance. The car was described as "not the best Ive seen for the year/model but far from being the worse" whatever that can mean?

Anyway, when I went to haggle with the seller , I was amazed to find out that she was aware of everything that was mentioned on the report and that the AA mechanic had told her that the tracking problem was relatively new and easy to fix. The seller isnt going to budge from the asking price and I believe this a large part of her approach was based on the good report from the mechanic.

I rang AA and was told the seller should not have been told the contents of the report and Ive now issued a formal complaint letter asking for my fee back if not a substantial refund. Has anyone come across this or any advice? - it just feels wrong.

In most cases where a potential purchaser commissions a report or appraisal on a purchase (be it car, property, antiques etc) the report usually has the proviso that it is for the sole use and benefit of the person paying for it. So on this grounds alone it is unusual for this to have happened....

I would ask for a refund. Are you sure you didn't make a mistake on the form (or whatever) and mix your name/address & that of the sellers up?
