Hi All,

Can sombody advise me on the amount of car allowance you can claim per month/year.

Briefly, I curently recieve €1,200 per month, I also have my insurance paid for and I am supplied with a fuel card by the company.
Do I need to fill out some sort of mileage sheets for the record.

Re: Car Allowance

Is this a tax question? There is no limit on what car allowance you can get, but this a limit on what allowance you can get without incurring a tax liability - The limit is zero, unless backed up by specific mileage claims for travel on company business (excluding travel to/from home/work).

Is your employer paying you €1200 untaxed?

Re: Car Allowance

Yes it would seem it is untaxed, however as i am a sales rep with the company and cover a lot of mileage every month, if i start filling out for mileage claims does this cover me.
What is the going rate per mile, also most of the time i will go to a client from my house does this count when taking in to consideration for claiming mileage allowance?

I don't believe that Revenue permit fixed, untaxed payments like this, regardless of what mileage you are covering each day. I'm not an expert on this, but I understood that you had to keep mileage records, and Revenue would allow a payment per mile. The standard public service rates are available here but I guess the fact that you have insurance & petrol paid would mean that a lower rate would apply to your case.
