i've seen house alarms that contact you on a certain number when the alarm goes off, is there a similar product for a car ????
 
Haven't heard of them in Ireland, but would imagine they are available (would have to be a pretty high end car to be worth your while?).

yeah but no point tracking it if they just break in and nick stuff, i found two sites myself and waitng on info back

You can get them. Geramy Clarkson had a similar alarm on his Ford GT but is kept going off and automaticly called the cops, while he was driving it !

The Ford GT is v expensive and I think the those alarms are not cheap.
 
Well those GSM diallers are about €300... It runs on 12v DC It would simply require the guts of an alarm panel PCB about €200 & a relay from the cars alarm to trigger it.
