Husband had an accident last night due to the thick fog, he drove onto a main road and hit the tail of a passing car.
Thankfully no one in either vehicle was hurt. Husband was slowing down as he knew he was approaching the t junction. No one needed Medical attention. Guards called and both cars are badly damaged.
My question is , my husband's van is only worth about 2k max . Should he claim on his own insurance. The other car is well entitled to claim so our premium is going to go up anyway but does it also work that the least you claim for the better.
We lost our business last year and while we're doing fine, finances are extremely tight and this is the last thing we needed.
Hey ho that's the way it goes and thank God no one was injured though.

A claim, is a claim. The amount paid does not affect the loss of NCB.

You might also find that he had a 'protected' NCB, which might allow for a certain amount of clams in a defined period - 2 claims in 3 years etc and if so, the NCB might not be affected at all, or only partially. Some, not all, insurers offer 'protected' ncb.
