Can't see video in Window's Live Movie Maker

Hi, I have some MPEG 4 video files which I tried to open in Window's Live Movie Maker. Movie maker doesn't support this file type so I converted them to .avi files. Now when I try to open them in Movie Maker, I can hear the audio, but cannot see the picture... I know I'm missing something simple to make this work......!...I just don't know what it is...

Can anyone help!

You probably need to install a CODEC pack to view video.....have a look here http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm
