Can't get refund from furniture store?

Hi All,

Back in March we bought a bed from a well known furniture store. We made various calls to them with regards to getting the bed delivered but we were either told we weren't on the list for that day or that the lorry had broken down!! By May I had enough as there was still no sign of the bed so I went into them on the 10th of May for a refund. They said it would be no problem and would be issued from head office within 10 days. It is now the 23rd June and still no refund. Everytime I ring if I get onto the lady she says she will ring head office and then ring us back with update which she never does and if I get through to the man that works there he tells me the refund has been processed!!!
I am at the end of my tether with them as they are giving me the complete run around and they have money for a product they never delivered.
Is there any way I can get my money back?

I would go into the shop on a busy day and make a scene until you get a refund

either that or a solicitors letter - have you tried putting your complaint in writing to them by now?

File a claim with the Small Claims Court to show that you are serious. Judgements aren't easily enforced against cowboys etc. but if it is a well known store, it should spur them into action. It costs €9 and is very straightforward.

Know it can be a bit embarrassing but i'd be all on for trying Paddyc's advice first. Did it myself in the past and the shop involved couldn't sort me out with a refund and get rid of me quick enough. I was so annoyed at the time though that i was contemplating standing outside with a sign if i didn't get my way.

Hi Guys - thanks for the advice - I don't know if I am brave enough to make a scene. I think I will put my issue in writing although to be honest given the response I have gotten so far I don't know if they will take any notice of it so maybe the Small Claims Court may be the best option.

Well if you send a letter at least there is a record of you having asked them for a refund whihc will stand in evidence if you need to claim.
Good luck with it, sounds pretty annoying.
