We have contacted our TV provider to cancel our subcription due to bad service - lost of service for a week - frequent interference, freezing imagem sound not matching the image etc.....
They just ask us to confirm by letter the cancellation.

Do I need to cancel the direct debit or should I contact directly my bank?

Cancel the direct debit by writing to both the television provider and to your bank.

Gather the original contract and all the bills you have recieved from them.

Also write a letter to the tv provider explaining what you are doing and stating clearly that you are closing the account. Explain why you are doing it as well.

Keep copies of all correspondance.

Do everyting in writing (dont do anything over the phone)

And while you're at it, backdate the cancellation to the start of the week when you had no service. Worth a try - if you had no service, you don't have to pay for it.

Due to the very bad service we have encounter since Christmas our TV provider will be refunded us a month as they did agree the service was very bad and we will no be charge penalty for pulling out before the end of the contract since their engineer has stated that there was nothing he could do as it was the signal which was poor in our area.
I will do everything in writing for sure and keep all correspondance.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies
