Cancel NTL - Bill not in my name

Hi there,

We are moving out of our rented accommodation at the end of the month and wish to cancel NTL. The problem is the NTL is not in any of our names, the person who's name the bill is in disappeared back home leaving all kinds of debts in his name! Just wondering if we can be held accountable for the bill that is in his name when we move out?
