can you sign on for an eircom phoneline and change straight away to utv?

We're shortly moving into a new build. We want to get UTV broadband but they've advised we need to get the phone line from Eircom first. If we apply to Eircom for a phone line can we then straight away change to UTV or is there a minimum time you have to be with them before you can do this.

Also, would we have to call and advise Eircom we are doing this or would UTV look after everything?

Also, would your number change or would the original number you get from Eircom stay as your number.

Any advice appreciated

You can ask for UTV to take you on once the Eircom line is activated and you have an account and phone number. They will look after everything. You will keep you original number.
