Have successfully deferred local property tax today online as we fall well below income bracket.
We decided to bite the bullet and I called household charge dept to do the same as we still have not paid-just been completely unable to afford it-to be told no deferral scheme.
This makes no sense, if you can defer property tax, why not household charge?
I know a 4% interest pa charge will apply for deferring LPC-approx €4 extra, I can live with that.
Yet with HHC, if not paid by 1st July it goes up to €200 from €144 as of today's date? I can accept the additional €14 as I have not paid it since it was introduced. But how can it be that one tax allows you to defer from an affordability point of view and the other has no such scheme in place at all.
Seems grossly unfair though not surprised at this stage.
Any way around this or do I just have to lump it that it will be €200 plus any additional charges, depending on when we can afford to pay it?
Will it automatically be included with LPC or do I need to advise them myself?
