You know the safety 'thing' in a bath or a sink that lets water down the drain if the sink or bath is filled over that level?
Does anyone know if there is anything to close it?
In my bath, when the water drains down to the bottom of this safety 'thing' it feels like im sitting in two inches of water!
Any ideas?

Do you mean the overflow? (hole at the top of the bath or sink)

If legorn is right and you mean the overflow, I would never consider blocking it. Why not get a deeper bathtub?

the thing at the top of the sink or bath where the plug chain hangs from. Its for the overflow, if you fill the water too high.

i dont want to go to the expense of buying a new bath. I'm just looking for something that i can use while im having a bath so i can fill the water up to the top.

how about this?

no idea if they are available in Ireland

Get a deflated balloon. Stuff the Body of the balloon into the overflow. Inflate it and tie it off. When and if you want to remove it, hold the mouth of the balloon and burst it with a pin. Cheap and cheerful - it works.
