My husband is a PAYE worker, thinking of setting up an online store but staying in his full time job. Can I run the online store for him and be an employee? Can I have separate income of my own? I want to do wedding invitations but keep the turnover less than 75k so that I don't have to charge VAT. If his business turnover is more than 75k would that have implications for me/us. His business would be a craft website selling elements for DIY wedding invitations. So very close to my business. Would revenue look on this unfavourably?
 
Yes your husband can employ you but he will have to register for and operate PAYE.

But I think that your proposed structure will not work because there are specific rules to stop people setting up separate businesses in the same area to avoid having to register for VAT. Its called anti fragmentation.
 
Yes, there is no problem. Your husband may employ you.
