My husband is self employed. I have been mostly at home with my children but am now trying to get back to work. I have always worked with my husband as and when he needs time off and extra help. He has usually also had a couple of employees. This year will be the first that his business cannot really sustain full-time summer staff. Meanwhile I cannot sign on the live register (because he is self-employed) and therefore I cannot enroll on any local courses (very rural area, all courses are for job seekers) or for an internship. We will not survive another year without me working but I need at least to get on a course or internship to stand a chance of getting a job. If I work for him instead of him employing summer staff and I am paid as they would be, can I then sign on when work dries up in September??? (and therefore onto a course)
