Can I set off losses in one unit linked fund against profits in another?

Hi Folks,
Many moons ago I took out most Risky option on the SSIA. I put in about € 20,000. This fund went down to 10,000 but in recent years to my great surprise, it reached € 30,000 !!
I left the fund where it is. But I got a letter today stating that I had made 10,000 Euro on the fund and € 5000 or so was being sent to Revenue on my behalf as tax.
What my question is : I had another UK Commercial Property fund which I invested in many years ago, I have pretty much lost all my money € 30,000 on that bad decision :-(
Its more or less worth nothing now.
Is it possible for me to write off my loss on this against the tax they took off me on my above SSIA ?

Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Tom.

I would doubt it - it seems like the SSIA falls under a unit trust/fund scheme and so you can't generally offset gains losses (unlike shares for CGT, etc)
