Can I renew motor tax early?

My Motor tax Disc is dated July. I want to renew it now for another year.

Logged in on online, using last 6 digits of vehicle registration cert as PIN.

I was greeted with a reply about my disc will be mailed to me. I presume this is a message from last year.

Has anyone managed to renewing earlier than the month of expiry?

According to our records, a tax disc for this vehicle was requested online and has now been posted to the registered owner's address. If you have not received your disc 5 working days after you requested it, please contact the Motor Tax Online helpline.
 
I've never tried to renew earlier than the month if expiry.
Your renewal email should land in the first few days of July.
If you renew on receipt of email you'll still be circa 4 weeks early.
May I ask is there a reason why you want to renew earlier than that?
 
Just for administration convience, e.g. I'm often away/travelling, and it would be easiest to just have that job done.
 
You can renew online from anywhere in the world wherever you can access the Internet - that's more or less everywhere these days
 
My tax renewal date is July 1st. I got an email from motor tax .ie on June 1st, renewed the same day, got the tax disc in the post, last week. So one can renew a month in advance
