Can I lodge a cheque to someone else's account?

My 81 year old aunt opened a BOI account (her first bank account ever) roughly 3 weeks ago. She still has not received her laser card (separate issue)

Last Thursday week she received cheques from a solicitor (total amount almost €80,000). Unfortunately a few hours later, before she had a chance to go to the bank, she suffered a mini stroke and has spent a week in hospital. I took the cheques home with me for safekeeping (she lives alone). She is now home and relatively healthy but not strong enough to go to the bank.

Can I lodge the cheques to her account?

Just for clarity, the cheques are nothing to do with me. They are solicitors cheques made payable to my aunt and I want to lodge them to my aunts account. If I had the laser card I could do it using the machines but as I don't I would have to go to the counter.

Not a problem as long as the name on the cheque matches the account.
