Can I give old car to fire service for training purposes?

I have an old peugeot which has not sold on the usual sites. Due to the amount of cheap & decent cars available at the moment, no one seems to want my old banger
Rather than having it scrapped, I'd like to donate it to the fire service (I heard they take them to practice on). Does anyone know anything about this?
It seems a pity as car is mechanically ok, but can't seem to find any way of making money from it so it may as well go to a good cause!
Any advice welcome

I did think of that..tried to get in touch today but couldn't. They have a website run as a hobby by a fireman but there is no info. Have emailed but heard nothing back.
Was wondering if anyone had done it before?

Alan is very efficient. He'll get back to you when he gets a chance.

Generally the cars are given to the training centre by dealers. They have to get paperwork to basically say they've been scrapped.. What year is the car and does it have an NCT? If its running ok, i'm sure someone will take it off ya in the buy and sell..

thanks Chrisboy,
The NTC is out in April 2009. It's in B&S, Donedeal, gumtree etc.. and so far only 2 enquiries both from text msgs and neither who answered my phone calls! The tax is out now since December. I'm sick of looking at it in the driveway!

If you can't get rid of it to the fire service, try jumbletown.ie, which is a site on which you can give away stuff. You might be pleasantly surprised.

There's a road accident competition in the Dublin Fire Brigade training centre in Marino next weekend. They may accept donations of cars.
