Does anyone know of a bank that has an account which allows you to transfer funds online to another account (preferably with them) which allows you to buy and sell shares. thanks

TD WaterHouse offer the best value out of Irish brokers.

You can transfer the funds via online banking to your trading account.

TD Waterhouse seems to only be cheaper for a frequent trader, the price is the same for small traders. Out of interest though, is it possible to switch traders, i.e. if I decided to move from NIB to TDW at some point in the future, can I bring my shares with me?

yes, i believe most brokers allow you to do this, albeit with a fee..

Does anyone here use this? Is it any good?
Yes, I have used it. Online transfers seems quite efficient. I am not a regular trader but it worked fine when I used it to buy shares (worse luck). Slim

Ah, there's always a fee.

I do. It's ok, not exactly technically award-winning, or cheap, but it does the job. I don't think it's really suitable for anything beyond dabbling though.
