Can I claim refund of stamp duty in respect of unused cheques ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if I can reclaim stamp duty previously charged by my Bank to my Current Account, in respect of unused cheques ?

My thinking is that I am entitled to this, as it was charged in advance as the Bank anticipated that I would use all cheques, but if I return the unused cheques and ask for them to be cancelled, then I should be entitled to the stamp duty back for those cheques that were never used.

I did this in 2013 with BOI - no problem at all to get the refund. I dropped into my branch with the cheques and it was all very straightforward.
