Can I claim PRSI back on a AVC

Hi Folks,

Quick questions in relation to AVC to a pension.

I'm a PAYE working and looking to pay an AVC of €5,000 into my pension for 05 tax year.

I know can claim 42% back in a lump sum. Can you also claim back PRSI on the amount??

Yes you can I think, I am not sure if this has already been answered for you(?) but from memory I think you certainly should be able to claim back the PRSI - will check it out some more!
 
Hi DMan - I can confirm it's a yes - I think you should write to:

PRSI Refund Section
Collector General
Sarsfield House
Limerick


I also have been told:

In this letter they will need their P60 (spouses P60 not needed) and their letter of confirmation. They would write a brief letter saying:
“Please see attached documentation. Please refund a cheque in respect of PRSI relief for my recent lump sum AVC contribution."
