Hi.
Have been a lurker for years, but this is my first post!
I have a VW Passat estate, 99 petrol. In the back it has two 3point belts and a lap belt in the middle. We have always had a child seat either side and often my mother in law in the middle. Funnily even on long journeys it never occurred to me that this was unsafe!
Now we have a new baby and the first time I put my (very tall) 6yo in the middle, with a younger one each side, my heart lurched. It looked so dangerous. I haven't been able to do it since and was hoping that i could either have some kind of bar installed to attach a top part of a belt onto, or else have a child seat attached to the middle seat that would contain its own proper harness.
Wondering has anyone done this? I rang two vw garages but was told no. I'm sure it's possible, however!
With me off on maternity leave, buying a new car is out of the question for the next few months.
