im currently on invalidity pension and thus have left my job of 10 years, im unable to work in the future so can i cash in my pension now, obviously i cannot transfer it to a new employer as i wont be returning to work, any advise would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

You will have to meet revenues definitions of being completely unable to work now and in the future, suggest you contact them

thanks leroy, so i need the revenue to maybe give me a letter stating im unable to work in the future?

you will need to provide them with proof that you are unable to work now and in the future. If you ring them they will tell you what they require and you can then send in the necessary documentation

If it's an insured pension scheme (i.e. one with one of the high street insurance companies like Irish Life, Zurich Life etc.) the pension company has authority from Revenue to decide who is eligible for ill-health early retirement. So the broker should be able to get you any forms.

As leroy says, you'll need to prove that your inability to work is permanent.

Good luck with it.
