Can employer pay for broadband at home?

Apologies if this is posted in the wrong forum. A couple of years ago, I read somewhere that key company IT personnel could have their broadband connection (not line rental or phone bill) paid for by their company without incurring benefit-in-kind tax. I presume that this was so they could work from home whenever necessary. Can anyone tell me if this still applies seeing that broadband is more common now? Thanks!

If you need the broadband for work, I assume that you could pay it yourself and then reclaim it from your employer via expenses.
