Can an OMC sell goods to raise money?

Just wondering but could an OMC sell t-shirts or other branded or novelty items that residents and anyone could buy and the money made become a surplus on the company accounts?

Has anyone done this or considered it?

Would VAT be an issue?

Why would they want to do that? Seems quite a risky proposition-investing residents money in non development related items. If the products did not sell it is left with the stock. Any profits on the sales would be taxable -as its regarded differently to service charge income, and surpluses that arise from same. Not sure about the VAT-there is a threshold for this.

IMO-this seems a really really odd thing to be considering!

Seems odd. Why not have a pub-quiz in the local pub - all the residents should be able to send along one adult, great intermingling, minimum organising and you should clear about EUR2k without fuss (probably more depending how much wrk you put into it).

When its over, done-dusted. No paperwork or tax implications.
